As a listener, what in your opinion is the high point of any concert?
It’s probably impossible to narrow it down to one “high point” of any concert, as each concert is so different, and there are so many highs and also can be lows in any given performance. I love to listen to artists who get completely involved in their music. Seeing an artist so deeply involved in what they are performing usually has the effect of pulling me into their journey alongside them. Anytime this happens, this is a ‘high point’ for me as a listener.
Does this differ when you're the performer?
I suppose the converse is true for me when I am performing. I don’t make a conscious effort to become more involved in the music I am singing, as that would result in something forced and fabricated. I naturally have that tendency to get very into the music though, often forgetting my surroundings once I get into a deeper focus. The high point then becomes that moment when I can see that members of the audience are as intensely focused on the music I am presenting, as I am myself. This feeling of being connected, at least for passing moments through the music, are the highest points for me while listening, and even more while performing.
