At a wedding show a few years ago, a drunk uncle tried to style my mic, the show ended two hours after it was supposed to, and I was having to console my band. Once the show ended, a few people come up to me and told me how much fun they had, and how great the band was, which usually always feels nice but tonight even that felt like a routine I was getting through.
Then, this elderly gentleman came up to me and said, ‘Great job, beta (child),’ and I respond with a very forced, ‘Oh you know it was a great crowd and a great space,’ and he looked at me right in the eye and said, ‘No it wasn't, but you have everything in the world going for you. Trust me, don't stop!’ And I haven't!”
